Bad Urach is a city of Fachwerk houses. Fach - a panel, a branch, a cage, a section and Werk - business, here - system). Construction which walls have an internal skeleton (wooden, metal), consisting of system of racks with the intervals filled by a brick or other material. Often wooden designs were decorated with a sculpture. The tree was left naked or became covered by slate. Sometimes designs arranged hanging above the first floor.

In days of Bismarck Bad Urach became especially popular resort for the European elite. Bismarck often visited the town. Therefore the monument was erected.
