Dobel: The best Maultaschen in Bad Wimpfen

Maultaschen are typical for southern Germany. They're made of pasta dough, wrapped around a filling. Mostly they're filled with a mixture of ground beef and spinache, but they come in many different varieties.
The one I had in the restaurant Dobel are among the best.
I really like the fact that you can order half a serving, so if you're not very hungry you can still get to taste their Maultaschen.
We had the traditional ones and the ones filled with mushrooms. Prices are between 5 and 9 Euro, not very expensive.
But be warned, their kitchen is small, everything is prepared fresh, so it can be a while before dinner is served.

    Adler: Simply good food

    by christine.j Updated Aug 29, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Along the main street of Bad Wimpfen there are several restaurants. One which I really like is the Adler. They serve plain food, mostly from Southern Germany, nothing fancy at all.You wouldn't go there to celebrate a wedding, but for a stop in between sightseeing it's perfect. Good sized portions and not expensive at all.

The last time I had Maultaschen salad, a sort of local pasta filled with spinache turned into a salad. Very good! Together with a large Radler and a coffee I paid 11 Euro.

Hans and I were getting hungry for a little snack. Hans was in the mood for a coffee. We spotted the BACKEREI EIBAUER where their coffee and pastries were reasonably priced and freshly baked. Hans had a chocolate pastry and I had a cinnamon roll. Both were absolutely delicious.
Picture number 2 was actually taken outside the bakery. The window was wide open and I thought it would be fun to take a pic of Hans eating his chocolate pastry through the open window.
