The pedestrianised area of the town is an enchanting array of little streets and beautiful shops. The windows are done up to encourage you to go in. Mind you a lot of the things do not have prices of their goods displayed which probably means the ordinary tourist cannot afford what is on offer. No harm in looking though! When we visited in June there were a few street entertainers in the town.

Baden-Baden is expensive. You expect that. Any town that puts that kind of emphasis on being upscale is going to come with a big price tag.
So fill up on supplies before you get there -- Karlsruhe is a good supply-point. It's also convenient by train or auto.
As for water, try some of Baden's finest!

When going to the spas be aware that in some of them you should be nude and they are common for males and females. This might be a problem for some, be sure to check before you go in.
