This summer a new Italian restaurant opened. Two weeks ago I was there for the first time and now it is my favourite restaurant.
The atmosphere is great and the meals are extraordinary delicious. The pasta dishes have a special touch which you cannot cook by yourself. In this restaurant I ate for the first time in my life two desserts! The Panna Cotta was so great that I couldn't stop after the first one.
Beside the menu they offer changing dishes which are wrote on blackboards.
It is good to make a table reservation.

Usually I choose a mixed starter dish or if available moussels in white wine salsa. And then a Pizza. My favourite one is with fresh tomatos, prosciutto di Parma, parmesan, and arugola. Time for lunch and we saw that this coffee house in the pedestrianised area was very busy with people lunching so we thought we would try it too. We managed to find a table outside and sat down. The waitress came and took our orders quite quickly and she was friendly. The menu was not huge but was ideal for lunch. Very smart, clean and service with a smile. Just what we needed !
I had the Parma ham servred with warm asparagus covered in hollandaise sauce and delicious potates. Good price considering it is in a busy and expensive area.

I used to go there only for drinking a coffee. But this summer I realised that they also offer excellent meals and prosecco.

Near the city center toward Friedrichsbad, one can easily locate Lowenbrau, beer garden/German cuisine restaurant. They serve wonderful and delicious German food, and the most famous item is 'pork knuckle', Schweinehaxe. It is a piece of knuckle with skin on, nicely roasted and quite delicious. I once tried similar one in Prague, but one at Lowenbrau was quite an experience. Order one with cold beer. Le Bistro - Sophienstrasse, serving a mixture of regional dishes and international food. We liked it so much we ate there 3 times in 2 days!
My favourite dish was Jungwildsweinegulash (or something like that)which was meat (pork?) in a rich gravy, served with local egg noodles and cranberry sauce, but the Spare Ribs and Gourmet salad were also faultless. The 'Amadeus' has become my usual After-Caracallatherme coffee address. Seems, though, that I've been missing the best of it. Amadeus is a microbrewery that serves its own beer specialities which are, if I understand correctly, not available anywhere else. So far I haven't tried their food (German cuisine, bistro food, big fresh salads), but what I observed on neighbouring tables looked good and abundant.
The terrace overlooks Leopoldplatz. The afternoon sunshine is best enjoyed in spring and autumn.
