Titisee in winter

Either you hate or like Titisee - go there and you will see why ;)

Of course its a lovely location, but much of the beauty was destroyed by touristic influence. Its not a bad place to get a taste of the Black Forest if you dont have much time, but I promise there are many nicer places in Black Forest ...

If you look for typical Black Forest souvenirs (and you have enough Euros) also a good place to be. But also here, go somewhere else (if you have time) and save a lot ...

Well, in winter dont test the ice yourself ... If its thick enough the officials will declare it. Otherwise you risk your life ...

Fun Alternatives: Schluchsee is a nice lake not far from Titisee, if you look to swim or sail. Also nature is more untouched there.

If you only look for a nice lake to go hiking, Feldsee should be your choice.

To do the shopping Id recommend Neustadt or Schluchsee, for clocks Furtwangen ...

This is a bit of a tourist trap in so far that coaches come from all over Europe to stop here and the tourists then buy the famous cuckoo-clocks you find everywhere. Nevertheless it still merits a visit for several reasons. In winter it is a skiing centre and often used as such in German competitions (also including dog-sledging). It also has a lovely lake where you can skate with the locals in winter or just walk around it in summer. I have only been there in January when most tourists where gone and it was a great day out!

Unique Suggestions: Walk along the lakeside or find your own forest paths.
