    S 31 and S 32 - the yellow trams

S 31 arriving in Bruchsal central station

Bruchsal is both connected to the Mannheim-Heidelberg (VRN) and the Karlsruhe (KVV) S-Bahn network.

The yellow Karlsruhe trams S 31 and S 32 connect Karlsruhe central station with Bruchsal and continue further into the Kraichgau hills to Menzingen resp. Odenheim. Often two tram cars of both lines are connected and will be split up in Ubstadt-Weiher, i.e. North of Bruchsal (so nothing to worry about if you want to go to Bruchsal).

The S 31/32 runs every 20 minutes during peak hours, twice per hour the rest of the day. It is slower than the red S 3 because it has more stops along the way.

If you want to visit Bruchsal palace, the S 31/32 is useful because in addition to Bruchsal central station it also stops at "Bruchsal Schlossgarten" - the stop is situated right at the Western end of the palace gardens, it's a 5 minute walk through the park to the palace.
Remember that Schlossgarten is a "stop on demand" - press the button at the tram's exit door in time to require the stop.

    S 3 - the red S-Bahn

S 3 in Bruchsal central station

Bruchsal is both connected to the Mannheim-Heidelberg (VRN) and the Karlsruhe (KVV) S-Bahn network.

The red VRN S-Bahn, line S 3, runs from Germersheim - Speyer - Ludwigshafen - Mannheim - Heidelberg via Bruchsal to Karlsruhe. It's the fastest local train connection from Karlsruhe. Its only stop in Bruchsal is Hauptbahnhof (central station). From there it's a 15 minute walk to the palace.

The S 3 runs once per hour, twice during peak hours.
