I was treated to two delicious dinners at the best B&B in town. One was tini58de's famous Chicken Simla -- the other included a wonderful flammekuchen as well as some delicious local potato noodles.
Favorite Dish: Not a bad dish in the lot! And the wine was pretty good too :))) [Not to mention the company!!]

Well, if you are into dips - ask me for some very unusual recipes - like banana dip, hot peanutbutter dip, curry mayonnaise with ginger, horseradish cream with cranberries...............
Yummie, I really love those!!!

This place is a typical pub or "restaurant" - typical for a small village. It is very down-to-earth, nothing fancy, but Christa, the owner will always have a nice word for you!
And they do have a bowling alley!
Favorite Dish: Wurstsalat mit Bratkartoffeln -
fried potatos and a salad made of saussage - try it and you will not want to eat anything else ever!!!

The Andreasbräu opened on June 7, 1996. We were all surprised about this, because a pub with a brewery in this kind of environment (barely populated area between Eggenstein and Leopoldshafen) did not seem to be a good idea. Boy, they sure proved us wrong:
The beer was so good, that they had to close down the pub for a whole week, because the guests had drunk all the beer available and the people had to wait until the next beer was drinkable!!! Ever since, the Andreasbräu has been really crowded summers and winters. They do have a nice beergarden outside and a nice interior, too.
Beer and food are delicious and reasonably priced. Easily reached by public transportation.
Favorite Dish: The beer is made right there on the spot - and it really is delicious!!! The food as well is very good - try the Obazda or the Wurstsalat or ... or... or......

While my second visit I had the honor to eat in the best restaurant in town. Only VIP's with an invitation are allowed to eat here.
Favorite Dish: Flamkuchen - a local speciality. It is a flat baken dough with sour cream onlions and ham. As final surprise the dough was garnished with mandarines and self-made marmelade - hmmm......

The surroundings are great, with old kitchen utensils dotting the walls. It is quaint and cozy, with the chefs even eating dinner with you. But you must book months in advance for a reservation, and even this is by invitation only!
Favorite Dish: Words cannot describe Simla Chicken. It's chicken that is roasted, then placed in a pan with cream, worchestershire sauce, and a few other ingredients, cooked, then served over rice. Heaven would be the best way to describe it! It is now my favorite food, cannot get enough of the stuff!! Thanks to the great chef who supplied to wonderful recipe!
Another great recipe is Ufotoast. You take a piece of bread, pile it with whatever you want on it, put the top piece of bread on, then stick it in this little cooker to place on the stove. Cook for about 5 minutes, and there you have it "UFO" toast. The chef's specialty is bannanas with ham and a few other seasonings. You should try it, it's awesome!

ADIS is a giant plant and flower center (see my shopping tips). The fun part about this place is, that they have a corner where you can sit down on nice garden furniture (which you can also buy there), listen to some nice music (which you can also buy there), have a look at gardening literature (which you can also buy there) and have some coffee (which doesn't cost you anything)! It is a lovely place!

It was almost a revolution, when Mr. Kan opened his little restaurant and take-away here in Eggenstein.
People were just not used to having foreign food available in the village - but they sure got used to it by now!
Favorite Dish: sweet and sour chicken

This was my first of many flammekuche on my trip. My hosts purchased the premade crust in France [only 30 km away!]. It is topped with crème fraiche, and sautéed onions and lardons. It was delicious!
