Favorite thing: Ettlingen is a 1000 years old town, where remarkable buildings give evidence of the town history from its Roman origins, over Middle Ages, the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque epochs up to the present. Ettlingen is well known for its palace and the festivals that take place here.
Fondest memory: Getting a private tour of the Ettlingen palace when Dave (shdw100) and his wife were here!

Favorite thing: The palace is a must see item for Ettlingen. Once you cross over into the courtyard, it feels like you have stepped back in time. The interesting thing about this palace is that the facade is painted on to make it look like it has pilars and stones! Great 3D illusion!
Fondest memory: Christine (tini58de) got us a personal mini-tour of the palace. She talked to the curator and said that she had two Americans who would like to see the palace, and after some convincing, got us in for free! It was awesome looking at all the fine art and especially the one concert hall. It was a sight to behold!

Favorite thing: This tower was built in the second half of the 16th century.
On its first floor there is an agricultural museum. It is open only on sundays from mid may to the end of september.
