If you are looking for fresh food or flowers, you can't beat the Markets in the Muenster precinct. You will be amazed at the fresh meats and cheeses, fruit, vegetables and of course the sausage vendors. I'm not sure when the markets are on exactly. I was there on a Monday and they were in full swing.
What to buy: The flowers are beyond compare, I have rarely seen such depth of colour.
What to pay: Zilch to the sky's the limit, I guess.

Direct opposite the cathedral is the best cheese shop i've ever seen in germany.
the two women are very friendly, and the smell is vrey strong, but so good. if you, like me, love cheese strong and smelly. don't be afraid to ask to try what you want to buy, they will give you lots!
they sell any kind of cheese, and if you're friendly, you may even buy goat cheese that's been staying there for years, but very strong, and hence very expensive.
What to buy: Buy the schwarzwalder, the cheese from the black forest, for two reasons:
- it's very good, you can buy with different ages (strength) according to taste
- it's the only shop i know who sells it.
they also sell cheese from all over europe. if you don't have the chance to cross over to Jura, take you take chance there and get comte, or other.
What to pay: it can be expensive, as they sell cheese almost nobody else sells! but it's still not a fortune!
