Badisch Brauhaus: Beer, Karlsruhe and a cool brewery restaurant
I would like to apologize to the VT folks who live in Karlsruhe but I didn’t find the city that interesting, except for their art museum (Staatliche Kunsthalle) which contains some paintings from some well-known artists (“well-known” means that I even know who they are). The palace looked rundown and since the city was founded in 1715 there was a lack of historical/interesting buildings to take pictures of. My wife, who is an avid picture taker, took more pictures of the brewery restaurant than of the city.
That being said, if you are visiting the city I highly recommend the Badisch Brauhaus restaurant located on Stephanienstrasse street and fairly close to the art museum. The food was good and plentiful, the prices were extremely reasonable but the layout of the building makes it a key stop in your tour of the city. There were three levels to the restaurant all below ground and the place even included a tube slide that went for the first level down to the third. Too bad it was closed up when we were there.
They brew two beers year-round: Badisch Hell and Badisch Dunkel. The Hell was okay with a slight aftertaste that I usually notice with smaller breweries but their Dunkel was very nice, went down smooth and just the right amount of malt taste. They also brew seasonal beers and they were serving a black beer which I didn’t get a chance to taste. So if you are in area give the place a try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Favorite Dish: Try the Hell beer while you wait for your food but switch over to the Dunkel when your food arrives especially if you get the goulash meat dish.

Badisch Brauhaus: A restaurant with it's own brewery
The Badisch Brauhaus is a restaurant that brews its own beer. This kind of restaurants become very popular here.
The ambience matches the fantasy-hotel ALLVITALIS where it is located in the ground-floor and the basement.
You have the choice between a cove in the cellar, a winter garden or an open beer garden in summer.
Favorite Dish: Try their local specialities from Baden and Alsace.
