The restaurant is on top of the Turmberg and has a fantastic view over Karlsruhe. There is a rather small number of tables inside, but during the summer season it is even better to sit outside on the terrace and enjoy the VERY delicious food and the spectacular view.
Favorite Dish: Almost everything I ever had there was absolutely fantastic!!! Last time, when we had a surprise party for Natalie (nhcram) I had lamb and it was breathtakingly delicious! And everybody else at our table was more than satisfied with their food!
The menu is German and English and you can see that they have soups, starters, salads, fish, meat, a minor selection of vegetarian food and dessert and having to decide, what to take is quite difficult.
They also offer "surprise menus" with 3 or 4 courses and with or without selections of different wines - I have not tried it, but it seems like a lovely option as well!
Klenerts: Take in the views
As a surprise for me in July, Bernd and Andrea organised a meal in this fantastic restaurant overlooking Durlach just outside Karlsruhe. 7 of us enjoyed good company, good food and the great views over the city.
The restaurant itself is not that big so booking in advance is advisable. The service is excellent.
There is a wonderful terrace where you can sit in the summer months and enjoy watching the sunset over the city.
Not hugely expensive but worth paying that bit extra than the restaurants in Karlsruhe!
Favorite Dish: I had delicious scallops with a salad of greens and pine nuts. The dressing on the salad was perfect!
Chris had the Zander fish which was served with a potato rosti and peas.
The scrummy Panna Cotta finished the meal off perfectly.
Klenerts: Don't miss the Cream of Asparagus Soup
The view of Durlach and Karlsruhe from this restaurant was breathtaking. The service was excellent as well. It was also not very expensive.
Favorite Dish: One simply must come here for the Cream of Asparagus Soup. It is beyond incredible. It is made with white asparagus and was a meal fit for a king, especially with a dry white wine and that gorgeous bread that the German's are so famous for! I can also recommend the Wedding soup wich was very good as well.
This place has been recommended to me by collegues and so we tried it and liked it!
The food is very good - lots of homemade things (and lots of Baden specialities such as Schupfnudeln or Spätzle) and very good meat - but what fascinated me just as much, was the spectacular view from the Turmberg over Karlsruhe!
