Botanical Garden, Karlsruhe
The botanical garden dates back to 1808, when Grand Duke Karl Friedrich ordered to transform the royal wood yard into a botanical garden with greenhouses. After the buildings were damaged during WW2 they were renovated in 1952 to 1956 and opened to the public.
Inside the greenhouses you'll find among numerous other plants cacti, palms and orchids from all parts of the world.
The small park in front of the buildings is the warmest spot of the city where plants and trees blossom earlier than elsewhere.
