The Black Forest (Schwarzwald) covers a huge section of South Western Germany. Starting off with gentle hills in the north, building up towards the Alps in the south, the entire area is covered in very dense forest. The landscape is spectacular, especially if from the higher points. Dotted with streams, rivers and waterfalls, there is always something to see.
After a long hike to the summit of the brandkopf this kneipe is a welcomed reward! Maybe it was due to the effort we put in getting there, but the food was fantastic, and the beer so refreshing!
The Restaurant serves local produce and specialities, such as Wuerstsalat, Soups, hot Sausages, and smoked sausages.
Favorite Dish: I had the "Paare Bratwuerst" (two large, meaty sausages), served in a rich gravy with delicious German bread.
Taxi's deep in the Black Forest arent exactly your average black cab! When we visted the Black Forest recently for a hiking weekend, one of our group had family in the area and organise a lift for us to the local villiage. We where lucky enough to take the trip in the back of this tractor, and could enjoy splendid views of the surrounding countryside. Beats walking!
The Brandkopf is the tallest mountain in the Oberharmersbach region of the Black Forest. There are a number of hiking trails that take you up past the summit, its not too difficult (unless your very unfit like me!), but there is a rewarding kneipe on the top which serves tasty beer and hearty food!
From the summit you have a beatiful view of the surrounding countryside, definately worth the climb!
