One of Germany's most beautiful sauna landscapes

The Bodenseetherme in Überlingen is heaven on earth for sauna aficionados. With 4 indoor saunas and 3 extra sauna houses in the huge garden, it caters for your every need. Indoors, you'll find a Japanese rose sauna, a Japanese steam bath, a classic Finnish sauna, a herb sauna plus a restaurant which serves quite good food. Outdoors, there is the magnificent lake sauna, a roomy and rustic hut with a spectacular view over Lake Constance and its own beach. The panoramic sauna is even bigger and allows for similarly great views out of its huge panoramic windows. The third sauna is the smaller boat house sauna in the centre of the garden. Several paths meander through the garden and allow for some cooling and refreshing walks. There's also a massage area outside. Another big plus of Bodenseetherme's sauna landscape is the huge and very cosy relaxing room, or rather relaxing house. It's a two-storey building - on the ground floor, you can chill out on inviting and comfortable benches while upstairs deckchairs are similarly inviting. Best of all: unlike in many other saunas, the temperature is not too cool - and in case you do get cold feet, soft blankets are there for you.
The Bodenseetherme is also famous for its swimming pool, in particular the beautiful outdoor area and a 90m waterslide which you can try out with specially provided tubes. From the swimming area you can enjoy great views onto Lake Constance as well - or jump in, if you are in the mood!
At € 21.50/person for a day ticket for both sauna and swimming pool, the Bodenseetherme is not exactly cheap - but it's worth it. If you want to visit the swimming pool alone, it's € 13. The Bodenseetherme is open daily between 10am and 10pm.

Equipment: German saunas are visited in one's birthday suit - the only things you need are a huge towel and bathing shoes as well as lots of water to drink, shower gel and shampoo. Food can be bought at the sauna restaurant (and is actually forbidden if brought along).

    Meersburg's excellent sauna and spa

    by King_Golo Updated Jan 30, 2016

If you have browsed through my sports tips in various places, you'll have found out that I love going to sauna. I've spent quite some time in Überlingen's Bodenseetherme and Tuttlingen's TuWass, but I only just found a new favourite: the Meersburg-Therme. Located in one of the most beautiful small towns on the shores of Lake Constance, Meersburg, this swimming pool cum spa area must be one of southern Germany's finest. An appealing interior and a very nice sauna garden with access to the lake, 7 saunas ranging from a traditional Finnish one to a Turkish hammam, a good restaurant and 2 pools cater for a sauna lover's every need. Moreover, there are 2 "regular" swimming pools, one of which opens up to the outside and allows for great views of Lake Constance and the Alps. A day in both the sauna and the swimming pool will cost you € 22, a day in the pool costs only € 14. At the sauna, it's ladies only on Mondays.

Equipment: German saunas are visited in one's birthday suit - the only things you need are a huge towel and bathing shoes as well as lots of water to drink, shower gel and shampoo. Food can be bought at the sauna restaurant.
