The Porsche Museum.
The Porsche Museum. It's not actually inside Stuttgart, but just outside in Zuffenhausen.
It's ironic, but you could easily drive by it and being a big fan of motor racing, I made sure I did'nt.
It's not very large, but the history inside is great: they actually have Ayrton Senna's Porsche powered Formula 1 McLaren on display, as well as many vintage speedster's, 911's, LeMans winners and the like. Pretty cool if you like that sort of thing.

Prosche Museum is located next...
Prosche Museum is located next to the Porsche factory, five miles from the city centre, the museum is dedicated to the one million Porsche sports cars built since 1948. It has a wealth of classic production and racing Porsches on display, as well as new models and prototypes that never went into production.

You absolutely have to visit the DAIMLER museum. You can watch Mercedes Benz cars from 1875 until now. This museum is located in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim, next to the headquarter of DAIMLER. There are also many factories located next to the museum, where motors and other parts are produced.
Headphones in different languages are available.
My visit to Stuttgart was in...
My visit to Stuttgart was in fact, a visit to the suburbs os the city - namely, to visit Porsche & Mercedes, but also to visit Gemballa Automobilinterieur und Technik, in the suburb of Leonberg.
If you love Porsches, this is the ultimate pit stop - but you must be serious about tuning your car to the top of its limits.
Uwe Gemballa's love of racing led him to create one of the finest tuning & customizing Porsche shop in Germany, and his debut of the 'Avalanche' in (1986?) put him on the design map as well.
The attached photo is of a red Avalanche (a modified 911 Turbo) through a glass window, so I'll dig up & scan a better picture at a future date.
Their home page is http://www.gemballa.com/ - English pages are still under construction
When you exit the highway to...
When you exit the highway to enter Leonberg, you come along the main street, and this is what you'll see... a SMART car tower which actually works as a vending machine... each car in the glass case can be brought down for a test drive, via a side-slipping-elevator system.
Here's Uwe hard at work...
Here's Uwe hard at work supervising one of his mechanics/engineers - about 10 people work in the shop, which can fit 5 or 6 cars at a time.

The Museum is open from 9 to 5. Closed on Mondays and holidays. Phone from the USA is 49 7 11 17 2 25 78. About 75 cars from the from Benz car making history.
