To reach Wilhelma zoo & botanic garden's by car..................

A 81 motorway from the direction of Heilbronn/Würzburg
Leave the A 81 at Exit Zuffenhausen (No. 17) and follow the B 10 main road towards the city centre until reaching Wilhelma.
A 8 motorway from the direction of Ulm/München (Munich)
Leave the A 8 at Exit Wendlingen (No. 55) and follow the B 313 main road, at Plochingen the B 19 main road, in the direction of Stuttgart until reaching Wilhelma.
A 81 motorway from the direction of Singen
From Autobahnkreuz/Motorway Junction Stuttgart (No. 20), follow the A 831 motorway/B 14 main road in the direction of the city centre until reaching Wilhelma.
A 8 motorway from the direction of KarlsruheLeave the A 8 at Exit Stuttgart-Vaihingen (No. 51), follow the A 831 motorway/B 14 main road in the direction of the city centre until reaching Wilhelma.

If you haven't these direction's like we didn't, once you reach Stuttgart, then look for a road sign with a WHITE ELEPHANT. These were everywhere, I found them, then told the driver which way to go. In a very busy city, this is a great idea, and we didn't have any problem's finding the Zoo, nor the parking area.

I don't know if this is the best way to get 'to' Stuttgart considering the Autobahn, but I'd have to say it is definately the best way to 'around' it: The 'smart' Car. I love this machine. It's the result of the finest minds from Mercedes and Swatch getting together to design the ultimate city car. A fun project to do while here, is to photograph each and every different smart car you see. They come in so many different colours, and many different companies use them as little rolling billboards so the range of variety is truly astounding. If you're able, do take one for a spin: it feels like being in a mentos commercial. Forget about Porsche, Audi, BMW, Opel and Volkswagon, these are like big go-carts and loads of fun to zip in and around traffic with, especially if you're in the mood to torment that older, stoic German who just sneered at you from behind the wheel of his Big-Black-Behemoth.
