By Air : Stuttgart-Echterdingen Airport (STR) is a half-hour journey by car or taxi. Various hotels operate shuttle services to and from the airport, but require pre-booking.

By Train : The train station is right in the centre of town (photo) and, immediately behind it, you'll find the bus station.

By Bus : The airport bus runs every twenty minutes between 5am and midnight.

I got a train from Cologne directly to Stuttgart, which took approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. A single second class ticket was roughly 80-90DM. The route takes you down the Rhine river and through some of the Black Forest.

Flybe, a regular scheduled airline , fly direct from Birmingham (BHX) to Stuttgart, ideal for us - this airport is only a 40 minute drive. Flying time around 1 hour 20.
