Enjoy the surrounds of Lake Titisee

This is my sole tip because we did not stay very long. My advice is first of all, if you plan to do a car trip through the Black Forrest as we did....do not miss Lake Titisee. And make more time for your stop there.

When visiting Lake Titisee, make sure you go for a stroll along the foreshore perhaps in the early morning or late afternoon when the crowds are obviously less and sit for a while on the benches provided as this couple were doing :o)

    Titisee

Located high in the Black Forest Titisee is a haven for winter sports fans. Cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, tobogganing, skaing, and Ski-Jumping are all locally available. The Hochfirstschanze in Titisee Neustadt is Germany's largest natural ski-jump, and was home to the world championships in 2005.

    Boat trip

There are two ways to get yourself out on the lake, on a large organised trip or hire a small motorboat. Both options looked enticing but nothing would tempt Mrs Bonio to leave dryland that day, ho - hum.
Anyway head to the lake and you can't miss either.

Visiting the information office is worth it, they will provide you with lots of information not only about the village but also about the whole black forest region. I found them extremely helpful

1: Hiking. There is a trail that circles the lake. It's very popular and probably take an hour or two.
    2. Camping. The camp sites were packed with caravans and tents.
    3. Rent a boat. There are paddleboats, rowboats, and these funky little car shaped boats with slides available to rent.
    4. Take a boat ride. There were two companies offering boat tours of the lake on the day we were there. The both lasted about 30 minutes and cost 4-6 Euros.
    5. Swim. Either off the trail, at the campsite, or at the large swimming park.

    Walk around the lake

The main attraction. It's not huge, a walk round took slightly over one hour and we were not hurrying. Parts are very pretty and some is walking by the roadside, not always close to the water either, but an enjoyable walk all the same.
Several places to stop for refreshments on the way too.

    Walk along the Seestrasse

by Ujamaflip Written Feb 13, 2005

The seestrasse is a pedestrianised area between the souvineer shops and the lake. The street is considered the loveliest in the southern Black Forest, and it is very pleasant, despite the hoards of tourists!

    Beautiful Lake

    Titisee

The lake Titisee is beautiful. Being the highest lake in the Black Forest it was still frozen over when we visited in mid-February, but nevertheless offered spectacular views. At certain times during the winter one can skate on the lake, within marked areas, with 2km of surface available. In the summer the lake is open to swimmers, and all year round one can enjoy walks around the lakes.

This is one of the best things to do where ever you are.
Walk around the village/town/city and wander into the little side streets,
where sometimes the best gem is hidden.
