Ulm Shopping

Not hard to say what I love most:
The umbrella with watercolour paintings of Ulm’s most scenic buildings which my former colleagues of the Südwest Presse politics department gave me as a farewell gift.

Further:
The delicious chocolate sparrows of Café Tröglen, located west of Cathedral Square. There are other tasty and even bigger chocolate sparrows in other cafés available but those are simply the best.

They also sell Spatzendreck, which literally translated means: Sparrow dirt, which is nothing else than their droppings. Well, this could be sold anywhere, and not just as Spatzendreck… ;-)

You also get Sparrows made of clay, wood and metal. You get mobiles of the tailor of Ulm and his flying kit. A mini-sized Ulmer Schachtel, the traditional boats that still operate on the Danube. The Ulm calendars are beautiful, especially the one that is sold at a bookshop named Gondrom in Hirschstraße (the street leading from the cathedral to the railway station). Some Ulm photo books are available as multi-language versions.

Of course, you also get Einstein t-shirts, Ulm mugs, DVD’s, tea towels, brass plates and vases, etc. Many such things are available at the Visitor Centre on Cathedral Square, but also look around in the shops surrounding the square. If you are into the brass stuff, there is a specialised shop in Walfischgasse. Great wooden toys and models are available at a shop at the corner of Hafenbad and Schuhhausgasse.

I love roaming around through bookshops....time seems to fly when I am feeding my head and heart and have a look at WHAT'S NEW......

Here I bought a nice book on Ulm and one on The Ulmer M?nster, also some special postvards, to tender and vulnerable to send because they are no photographs but cards with the most lovely "pictures" made of flinterthin slivers of painted wood.....



What to buy: well, I wouldn't have to think very long........could fill a trolley in a few minutes.....



What to pay: as I always say: pay for what you bought!
