Tegel Airport is toward the northwestern part of Berlin and is a relative ease to navigate. It is only about 50 feet from the gate to the street.
Just one thing you need to be aware of regarding checkin at Tegel though is that airlines like Lufthansa will only check you in at certain ticket counters for certain flights. Some of their ticket counters correspond to certain gates...so just make sure you are standing in the right line. :)

We primarily fly to Russia regularly from Berlin, but the airlines we use have many great deals to other locations as well. I had considered "posting a deal" about this from VT's main page, but I decided to make a tip instead so one can always reference...including myself should I need the website links again. SkyCenter website is always excellent for helping find cheap flights.
Right now, as of 10 Juni 2005, here are example flights from Tegel and Schonefeld airports in Berlin:
Germania Express Website shows flights From Berlin Tegel to Domodedovo Airport, its 244 euros round trip. The website says this price included estimated taxes and fees. This is prices booking a month in advance, however closer to the date the prices may rise or seats may no longer be available certain flights.
ExpressCallCenter: +49 1805-737 100 (€ 0,12/min. from the German fixed network)
mon.-fri.: 8:00 - 20:00, sat., sun. + holidays 9:00 - 18:00
If you choose Berlin Schoenfeld airport, you would fly into the Vnukovo airport instead is around 216euros, travel completed within 2 weeks. For example book from 11-26 July. Your booking platform will be found on the Germanwings airline site.

Berlin has 2 main airports ... the TEGEL one is the most used ... small & not so far away from the city center can be reached by bus or taxi (20 minutes ride from Kudamm).
Use the undeground !!!!! (in the pic one of the 'u-bahn' stop).

For this trip to Berlin we got the best price with "Air Berlin". This company seems to be growing and growing. At the moment they fly from Manchester and London Stansted from the UK. As "budget" airlines go they seem to be one of the best - and the first one I have flown on you get a sandwich and drink still for free!

Because of its facked up, crazy history, Berlin isn't quite the transportation hub that other capitals of Europe are. Unlike London or Paris, Berlin is not a hub city.
There are a lot of new budget airlines in berlin, but the best deal is easyjet, as they have made Berlin a hub on the European continent. They keep adding new destinations from Berlin Schönefeld for ridiculously low flight prices: Athens, Valencia, Ljubjana, Talliin! Wow! Ryanair has a good budget flight from London and Germania offers flat rate flights to Moscow. It's a budget traveler's dream!

Berlin has two main airports, Tegel and Schonefeld. Tegel is the busiest one, and serves most of the major airlines and destinations. Schonefeld used to be the airport for the cities in eastern Europe, but now serves a number of budget airlines, including Ryan Air. Tegel airport has plenty of regular bus services to the centre, including #X9 and #109 to the Bahnhof Zoo. Schonefeld is further out, but links to the city center via the S-Bahn and regular train are easily available.

Have flown the route between Berlin and Frankfurt twice and survived. The last flight back to Berlin was not calm at all and very 'bumpy', but maybe that was meant as special test for me and my fear to fly? ;-)
Anyway, the airline was Lufthansa and it was Berlin's Tegel Airport. Flight time is ca. 1 hour and they fly mostly with the A321 or A300-600.

Tempelhof, Berlin?s smallest airport lies south of the city centre on the U6 (Underground Line 6). Stadtmitte, the new city centre is only a few stops away by underground, which means you can reach the centre in 15-20 minutes.

Will you believe the city decided that a new, completely renewed airport will take the place of the existing two? Tiny and city-squeezed Tempelhof will be closed very soon; scarcely efficient Texel will follow in the coming years, while the former-Est-Germany Schonefeld will be completely reformed, two main runaways built and it will become the only airport for the capital.
Now, you would land at Schonefeld if you fly by budget lines.

I flew to Berlin from London for the incredibly cheap price of 36 pounds return (including tax). Ryanair has two flights daily to Berlin since they took the route over from Buzz. Get these flights while you can!
