    China Tours at ITB

Favorite thing: From the official ITB-Page:
"ITB Berlin: Where Global Business Happens.

The whole world meets at ITB Berlin: People, working in the travel industry and people, who want to catch up on the most beautiful travel destinations. The combination of trade exhibition, public exhibition and the biggest professional convention worldwide attracts tens of thousands of visitors, exhibitors and media representatives every year.

Look forward to the World's Leading Travel Trade Show – 10-14 March 2010 on the fairgrounds of Messe Berlin."

As China Tours is a touroperator, every year we have a a booth on ITB. Sometimes I help there informing people of our tours to China. But mainly I am having meetings with business partners. ITB is a very exhausting event, so I do not have enough energy to see more than the fair grounds during ITB.

Get the "In Your Pocket Guide" for Information

    by mi5chelle Updated Oct 15, 2004

    Arsenal theatre

Favorite thing: The In Your Pocket Guide is found in most hotels and hostels. Its a free publication that comes out monthly and highlights what's going on in Berlin, in addition to showcasing a particular area. In Sept/Oct, Charlottenburg was the focus.

The provide great maps, nightlife and culture, restaurant and hotel details, clubbing and gay/lesbian info, too.

Fondest memory: My best memory of Berlin was just on 6 Oct 2004 at at a film festival devoted to films about/by and for women, held in the Arsenal Theatre in Potzdamer Platz. This is an independent film festival, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

  • Karneval der Kulturen (end of May - Pfingsten)

by miromi Written Jan 8, 2005

    karneval der kulturen

Favorite thing: during the German holiday of Pfingsten Berlin is seized by multicultural madness and Kreuzberg takes over the entire city and makes it its own!

Fondest memory: this is really the best parade in Berlin, much more pleasant and exciting than the now extinct Love Parade. Thousands of beautiful people from all over Germany converge to shake booty and celebrate coming of spring and the bootyliciousness of every kind of music and dance known to man. This is really the only parade i've seen soca at in Berlin, and it's a wild but much less chaotic West Indian Day (New York City) or Nottingham hill carnival (London). Be careful because those hippie mommies are pretty ruthless about pushing you to the side so their mohawked kids can get a better look at the dragon dance.

    Xmas Swing Russian Style

    by grishaV1 Updated Jun 3, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Inside the concert house

Favorite thing: This was a concert that I gave ticket to my partner as a Xmas gift: Russian swing! A great troupe of Russian players told the story of Christmas, danced, played traditional songs, and new style pieces in a colorful way and with colorful traditional costumes. It was a wonderful evening that had many Russians come there as well as Germans and others, singing along to songs we knew and almost wanting to dance along.

During intermissions for the musicians they even came up into the audience and talked with people, very friendly! The stage there is very special, unlike some theatre I have been too this was not a really detach stage but one just sitting in the middle, a place for them to play. You seemed in a close room with them like at home almost. It was great. The percussionist was from far east Russia near where we used to live in Magadan, and we asked he and his partner to dinner and they came with us after the show. It was good to talk to someone from home.

Fondest memory: Its located just around from Postdamer Platz, at Vorverkauf an allen Theaterkassen und in der Philharmonie 254-88-132. Upcoming events at this concert hall in February 2004:

Feb 22-Carneval Do Brasil, a Samba Festival music and dancing.

Feb 27-A Flamenco Festival with special dancers and a whole Flamenco orchestra!

    international trade fairs

    by Mandy23 Updated Feb 3, 2003

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Berlin is also a city of international trade fairs, some of them held in the 'International Congress Center' (ICC). It was built in 1979.

Fondest memory: The area where all those fairs are taking place, is another place where I am often, especially for the Radio Exhibition (Funkausstellung), International Tourism Exchange ITB and for the International Green Week.
I went to the Green Week 2003 and you'll find some info's under "Must see activities".

This is probably the only time...

by lillapenguin Written Aug 24, 2002

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: This is probably the only time of year that you will see Berling like you've never seen it before. The streets are literally jam packed full of ravers, trying to get near the floats that go by. Every lamppost traffic light had someone with great climbing skills as they try and balance themselves to get a better view.

Fondest memory: The atmosphere was amazing. Everybody just wanted a good time. The was no apprehension like you find for example at football matches. Everybody was cool.
BELOW: First stop was London where out group met up ready for the journey to Berlin and then out youth hostel a few underground stops away from the Centre (Lisa, Jen, Jen and Alex).

    ITB - Travel Fair

by Kukkanen Written Jan 17, 2007

Favorite thing: The annual International Travel Fair held in Berlin is a huge event and definitely worth checking out if you happen to be in town during the event! The fair is held in such a huge place that it would take at least a few days to see everything! But it is a lot of fun (well, at least if you are a travel student or just interested in different countries or travelling) and you can see some amazing stalls there because most of the countries/companies taking part in the fair put a lot of effort into making their stalls attractive. You can also find a lot of great freebies ;)

The only downside is that even though the event is being advertised as an international fair, most of the stall holders only speak German and have mainly just German brochures to give away. I was a little disappointed by this because it meant that it wasn't possible to talk to many company representatives or find brochures on some interesting countries.

This year the Travel Fair is held between March 7- 11, 2007.
