Beers: One Place to be on a Summer Evening
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Although Berlin is not exactly in Italy, there are some so called strand bars, of which Strandbar Mitte is the oldest and the original Strandbar. It's basically kind of a artificial beach strip where you can have a beer or Coke (don't even think of asking for a glass), sit down in a cheap sun chair and watch those boat-tour ships passing by. This is especially nice on a warm summer night when the sun sets and you can curl up in the arms of your lover. One of the more touristy copies of this place, a bit cleaner, posh and where you can have a glass for your cocktail, is directly at Main Station. Not bad, but this is the original Strandbar. If they only had better beer and some snacks.

Beers: wagon hippies serve beach drinks to punk disco
  • Tip Rating:
  • One of my favorite Berlin things of all is to ride my bike to Görlitzer Park and hang out at this bar/theater / film house / playground / old school Berlin Freak café. The people who run this run the bar and kitchen only on weekends in the summers. Yes, they do all live in those brightly painted wagons behind the bar. It attracts a more crusty, older Berlin Kreuzberg crowd, which I like, and the sandy ground teleports you to a beautiful tropical beach, only in Berlin.

the folk kitchen has varying dishes but they cook some kickass indian euro veggie combinations

    Beers: Those tasty German beers
  • Tip Rating:
  • There is a great variety of beers to sample in Berlin. Try the famous Berliner Weisse. I liked the Berliner Kindl, which is sold everywhere and costs only 50 cents in the supermarkets. I also tried a nice wheat beer, whose name I've forgotten, but whose taste I can fondly remember!

    Beers: Beer, blues/jazz and VT-meeting
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • We were in legendary Yorckschlosschen Club and Bar at night to meet three Berlin's VT-ers and listen to the blues concert. We enjoyed a lot of our company, unique atmosphere and the concert of Kuckenbecker there.

We ordered a few beers there and we ate thin pizza which was good and tasted like Turkish pizza. The place was crowded and surprisingly inexpensive as for Germany and Berlin. Beers were below 3.0 € per bottle.

Beers: Beer and Local Food Instead of Russian Tanks
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Deponie is a pub, located in one of those S-Bahn arcs that, I believe, are now an UNESCO World Heritage (or whatever is the proper name). Formerly used as place where Russian tanks were stored (the former border was a stone's throw away), Deponie is now a rustic and cosy pub for locals to enjoy a quitting-time beer and have a snack. They mostly serve local food, but with the exception of maybe "Grillplatte Deponie" (mixed grilled meat) and their "Soljanka", I'm not too fond of their dishes. Most times, I come to have beer or two. They have a small terrace if you prefer to sit outsite. From time to time there's live music with both - musicians and audience - trying to ignore the S-Bahn rumbling over their heads. You'll find Deponie in of those S-Bahn arcs between Friedrichstrasse and Museum Island, Georgenstrasse 5.

  • I like the beer of Berlin: Berlin Pilsener. And also, there is a special drink for ladies in cool color and cute cup, which is a mixture of Berlin Pilsener and fruit juice, called Berliner Wiser. Do not miss that two drinks there! :-)

Beers: A very Berlin speciality, the one I like most
  • Satisfaction:
  • It's a part of Berlin related customs (especially when summer time is some what hot): having a "BERLINER WEISSE", a young wheat beer that ferments in the bottle preferably with a shot of red raspberry or green woodruff syrup, and drunk through a straw. The "BERLINER WEISSE" is served typically in a wide-mouthed chalice glass with a bright white crown of foam. One should never get/or leave Berlin without having a "BERLINER WEISSE" there! Typical fans of "BERLINER WEISSE" are genuine fresh air fanatics and prefer sitting at any so called "Biergarten" under umbrellas and chestnut trees either along the Havel/Spree banks, the Wannensee lake or right in the middle of the city where at for example the awesome "Deichgraf" is located. A kinda inspiring place.. also it has simpel/tasty German food/snacks as well. I very much recommend to stop by. When I lived in Berlin almost each of the 12 Berlin-summers I've been at "Deichgraf" for taking a "BERLINER WEISSE" (green) and enjoying a little time out in great company, a company I was given for the last time September 10/06 without knowing that it won't happen again the way it did. Never ever. So I thank God deeply as for HE lendered me the company I was given for many years. Now should I find mydelf at a loss and pondering what is life all about just give me a gentle reminder that it's in the valleys I grow.

    Beers: Upper Class
  • Satisfaction:
  • So here is the deal. This is a ritzy wine, liquor, and beer bar. Across the street is a restaurant associated with the bar. Once you look at the drink menu you'll get the idea. Drinks range from 3 euro, up to 1,000 euro for a bottle of wine. The bartender was really nice (especially since we were a group of 7 and a mix of 20 something americans, germans, and austrians) probably not the typical crowed. They may of had food, didn't check. Overall something different then i was used to. You may want to stop in and check it out. IF YOU LIKE MY POST PLEASE GIVE POSITIVE FEEDBACK, THANKS.

    Beer and some $$$$ drinks.
