Europa Center: Good even for Window Shopping!
Europa Center is not as pompous as KaDeWe, and you can just walk around the area, enjoy the fountain, see the famous Berlin Bears, follow the flow of time looking at the Clock of Floating Time with green water in it showing hours and minutes...
The place is less expensive than KaDeWe or Galeries Lafayette.
It's not only shops - there are cafes and restaurants to have some rest from shopping.

Europa Centre: Europa Centre
The Europa Centre was completed in 1965, part of it consists of a 22 story tower block, but the place to head for is the 90,000 square metre shopping complex. Outside the main entrance is a popular meeting place which is called the water ball and is a hemispherical granite fountain. Inside the Europa Centre is a 13 metre green liquid clock spread over 3 floors called The Clock of Flowing Time. It has 12 larger balls, which represent each hour and 30 smaller balls which represent every 2 minutes. It all re-starts at 1am & 1pm when the liquid empties except for 1 ball. Another feature in the centre is the Lotus Fountain which is located outside the Tiffany Café. 2 of the more unusual stores are a games workshop with a large window display and a shop selling samuri swords and knives.
Irish Pub in Europa Center: Less about shopping but Irish Pub
Europa Center is a big mall that offers on different floors all sorts of stores, gifts, books, music, electronic, clothing shops. The nicest thing the mall offers, are the many coffee and ice places, restaurants, and two Irish Pubs with programs for live music every night. The pub is located on Europa Center's ground floor. One also gets soda and doesn't need to stick with beer.

This I believe was the first shopping centre in the city? Housed in this modern complex is an unusual water clock. also a variety of shops, restaurants and bars including the famous Irish bar.

Europa Center: Centrally Located and Busy Most Times
(Rewriting this tip...9 Juni 2006!)
Centrally located nearby the Kaiser Wilheim Memorial, between Wittenberg and Zoologischer Garten Bahnhofs, with well-known streets Ku'damm, Tauentzienstraße, Budapester, and Breitscheidplatz / Rankestrasse. It's an excellent meeting place for friends, and draws tourist and visitors from all over the world and Germany as well, like bees to honey.
What to pay: It's more expensive than other places in Berlin, but if you are just visiting, why not?
While East Berlin was under communist rule, the authorities in the west took every opportunity to showcase West Berlin as the home of capitalism. With money pouring in from America, and other sources, West Berlin was quickly rebuilt after the war. No where is this more evident than in the Ku'Damm area of the city, where the bright light and numerous large shops speak as loudly as the derelict buildings ans wasteland still prevalent in the former east. All this means that the Ku'Damm is a great area to shop!!
Europa Center: Meeting, Eating, Shopping, Hanging Out
Its a combination of places with lots of bars, pubs, all kinds of shops, and restaurants. It is a good centrally located place that is immediate to recognize. A lot of people hang out in this area because you can see and be seen. A great place to arrange for a night out in a popular Berlin area. The train stations nearby are convenient, movie theatre if you want to do something, have some eats and drinks.
I´ve been here a few times and walked past it dozens probably headed towards the hundreds! Its more a place to find foreigners come to the city, visitors, people like that, and the younger crowd of people for some reasonn.
What to buy: I wouldnt buy anything in here really if I live in Berlin or are staying for a while. Its cheaper someplace if you know where to look, but if you are only in the city a short time, a few days or something, why not buy some souvenirs here or get t-shirts with Berlin on it.
What to pay: Its more expensive here.
Europa Center: Photography
