SHOPPING INFO LEAFLETS by matcrazy1 I got these two leaflets on my picture in KaDaWe department store. There is a lot of info on shopping there. Berlin has a few centres/downtowns and a few main shopping areas: In Charlottenburg: 1. Kurfürstendamm (Ku-damm) esp. around Adenauerplatz and east of Bleibtreustraße up to Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche (Emperor William Memorial Church). There were mostly high quality cloth stores and second hand stores - rather expensive area. In Mitte: 2. Friedrichstraße south of Spree River up to say Französische Straße - East Berlin answer to West Berlin Ku-damm. 3. Area around Hackesher Markt - excuse, I wasn't there. 4. Alexanderplatz and around - excuse, I wasn't there. In Schöneberg 5. South of Kleiststraße, and around Nollendorfplatz - there was the best second hand store at Ahornstraße. 6. On and around Beiziger Straße - excuse, I wasn't there. In Kreuzberg: 7. Bergmannstraße and around - a little bit artistic, unique and interesting shops with strange clothes, furnitures and food. In Tiergarten: 8. Potsdamerstraße (Sony Center) and Potsdamer Platz (Arkaden). HOURS Groceries and supermarkets/shopping malls usually: Mon - Fri: 9.00 am - 8.00 pm Sat: 9.00 am - 4.00 pm Others: Mon - Fri: 10.00 am - 8.00 pm Sat: 11.00 am - 4.00 pm SUNDAY CLOSED - flea markets are open.
What you like :-) From postcards and small souvenirs to top class clothes by world famous fashion designers.
If you are non-EU citizen save up to 16% in tax free stores. You must spend at least 25.00 €. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Galleria at SChlossstr. 101 It's the largest nature wear store in Berlin or so they say. Lots of earth friendly products from around the world. And some of my favorite teas: Ayurvedische Yogi-tees for around 2 per box. Genuine Alpaca fiber woven mittens, pullovers, toboggans and socks, prices for those are rather expensive because they are (of course) imported from Peru, but they are colorful and in demand by the grunge set. Natural hennas for hair can also be purchased here, just don't buy that horridly popular colors so many women are sporting: kind of a maroon color.
If you are looking to buy someone a special gift, they have lots of unqiue items here.
Some prices are reasonable, others are not, it just depends on how badly you want it. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Schlossstr. 101Directions: You can reach it from U Schlossstr. S Rathaus Steglitz or buses 148, 185, 186, 383 or for parking try on Deitmerstr. It's open Mon-Sat 10-20 hours.

I think that Mitte district offers to guys the best for the moment. same items in Rome cost much more;and here you've a bigger choice.simply go around Hackescher Market-Rosa Luxemburg strasse-Rosenthaler Platz.the wonders' triangle for non convetional shoppers. If you like luxury you can't loose La Fayette galleries on Friedrichstrasse.three floors of elegance, plus a resturant and "supermarket" and then you enter in Quartier 205 and 206(art deco style, wonderful):you have to go there!!!
clothes,shoes,bags and other accessories
the range change from shop to shop. Obviously in La Fayette you can expect to pay something more Theme: OtherDirections: Mitte

Very nice shops by Emke It is not so much one shop I'd like to recommend, but rather a whole street: the friedrichstrasse. You can't afford to buy anything (at least I couldn't), but it's always nice to just windowshop.
A lot! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

SECOND HAND CARO by matcrazy1 Nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about shopping in second hand stores. We found many of them in Berlin. And even some people who are rich would buy something there if they found what they'd like. In fact, some rich and famous people put their used clothes in shops to be sold. Why? First not to waste the clothes, second not to lose all their money. These "rich-people" second hand shops were called "consignment shops" in the USA and had fancy names, but they were the same thing as an ordinary second hand shop, only the clothes were usually designer originals and... more expensive than something new in a department store. We found quite many "consignment shops" in an upscale district of Charlottenburg. Urszula (matcrazy0) liked a few of them (esp. two) and some clothes sold there but... not always the prices (me too :-), quite high esp. as for a second hand cloth. But she had a lot of fan looking for something interesting there. It is true that there are snobbish people would sneer at the idea of buying any thing second hand but usually those people are insecure about their own image, I suppose. However, there is no reason to tell everyone the clothes were purchased in a second hand shop. At least you can always say: "Oh, I bought it on one of our trips to Berlin" haha. That would be truthful and should be pretty impressive. LOL!
To be honest Urszula didn't find anything great there. But surely you can try. They sold both elegant clothes designed by famous designers and more "normal" clothes. Surely they were from their old collections and used by someone before.
Expensive area. Over 100 €, even over 400 € for some clothes. Leave a Comment

street scene very near Adenauerplatz by grishaV1 Secondhand shops are everywhere all over Berlin. You can find clothes, furniture, tools, shoes, household goods, whatever you might need. Usually they are just narrow shops with clothes hanging in the window maybe so you know what it is, some are more popular than other. My favorite is Garbage, its got good stuff. I look there regular because often you can find clothes for taller men. This we need. You can find it off Nollendorfplatz. Go to the right out of the station, about 2 blocks then left. Its a large square buildings not too high. At Adenauerplatz you can see Humana secondhand. If you are riding the bus, as you cross the platz you can see it clearly as its on the square, or take the U-bahn 7 to Adenauerplatz. Some of the best second hand shops are in Kreuzburg, Schöneburg, and Pankow to me.
I always looks for good jeans and dress shirts, sweaters and coats, some boots and belts.
I wouldnt pay over 16.00 for a good coat, 6.00 for some jeans or trousers, 4 or 5.00 for a good sweater, and usually 2 or 3.00 for a dress shirt. If its a very unique thing I will pay what they ask the first time because someone else will get it otherwise. If its just so-so, I wait and come back when they regularly mark down the prices and try to get it then. After holidays and season end is good time. KAISER'S GROCERY by matcrazy1 Kaiser's is a chain of groceries or better to say small supermarkets quite popular at least in Germany and in... Hungary run by German Tengelmann company. Kaiser's is a good choice esp. for a budget traveler looking for a nice selection of groceries. It's got the most of everything! And they stayed open longer at least as for Berlin. OPENING HOURS: Mon - Fri: 8.00 am - 8.00 pm Sat.: 8.00 am - 4.00 pm
Food and drink. Look for German beer (if you like) and crackings (good and relatively cheap).
Low prices as for Berlin although usually at least 20-30% higher than in chain supermarkets in Poland. BERGMANN ANTIQUES by matcrazy1 It was an antique shop full of messed up various antiques. Most goods looked neither pretty nor very old but try your luck personally if you want and like antiques.
There were furnitures, silver, jewellery, china. lamps and clocks sold there. To be honest I didn't find anything interesting there.
Prices were not at all fixed up. Try to make a good deal. Some stuff was on sale up to 50% off.
