The most beautiful square in Berlin
The Gendarmenmarkt features two historic churches: the "Französischer Dom" and the "Deutscher Dom" and the neo-classical "Schauspielhaus"in between. Certainly the most beautiful square in Berlin.

Concert Hall is the most recent building on the Gendarmenmarkt. Built on the ruins of the National Theater, it is now home to the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.
On one square you will find two big churches and the Berlin opera. Also take a look at the nice streetlights.
On the picture, theSchauspielhaus (built in 1818-21 by Schinkel), functioning today as a concert hall.
Gendarmenmarkt - Deutscher Dom
And here is the German cathedral - it looks strangely familiar doesn't it? It was built at the same time as the French one and it is now home for an exhibition as well.
Home to the Berlin Symphony and National (German) Symphony Orchestra. The former Schauspielhaus boasts two concert halls, which play host to some of the best in classical music.
The French Cathedral
The French Cathedral can be found on the Platz der Akademie on the eastern side of where the wall once stood.

The last photo I want to show your from the Gendarmenmarkt is this areal photo from 1930.
A beautiful open square with the Franzöischer Dom opposite the Deutscher Dom and between them, the Konzerthaus. Much has been restored but still much more to do
