The newly opened and strangely shaped zinc building by Jewish architect Libeskind is not only an empty nutshell. It contains 'Two millenia of German Jewish History'. No doubt well organized and wonderfully adapted into the architecture, the museum is surely striking. Also for the fact you get thoroughly scanned at the entrance and pass through airport-like security measures, as if you were boarding a flight to Tel Aviv. Let's hope this is not the FUTURE of German Jewish history.

    NOT a common building

A visit to the Jewish Musuem is well worth your time. Besides the exhibits, the interior architectural design of the building is also a very interesting highlight of the visit. Prepare to spend about 3-4 hours here.

In 1988-89, a subsequent international IBA competition was held for an expansion of the Berlin Museum, located in the former High Court, The new annex was to be devoted above all to a representation of Jewish history as an integral part of the city's history. In the summer of 1989 - only a few months before the unpredictable fall of the Berlin Wall - an international jury awarded first prize to Daniel libeskind's design.

The museum consists of two buildings. One is a former courthouse (the Kollegienhaus), and a new addition designed by Daniel Libeskind, a very strange and impressive place.

The building was designed by Daniel Libeskind and completed in 1999. The floor plan follows a fractured pattern similar to the Star of David.
The architecture of the building is breathtaking!!!

Describes the history of the relationship between the Jews and Germany, without trying to hide or justrify the atrocities that the Germans committed.

    One of the special exhibits
