 | | | | Tiergarten and Zoo: Lovely all year round | | | | | |
The Tiergarten is a lovely place to visit in Berlin, any time of the year, especially if you wish to walk through the many paths you will find through the park, or sit on one of the benches and relax under the trees. In summer this is known as a lovely place for barbeques and picnics I was there in winter, and even then it was lovely, the trees were coated in snow and everything looked magical. I spent a few hours there walking through the park and watching people ice-skating on the frozen lakes. The Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Schloss Bellevue, Zoologic Garden, Siegess?ule and many other interesting landmarks are all located in or within walking distance to the Tiergarten. Restoration of the Park began in 1949 to repair the damage cause by deforestation during the Second World War. The Tiergarten was originally a hunting grounds for Prussian princes, but was transformed into a park in the 18th century. This gives reason to the name Tiergarten, meaning animal garden. It is certainly a lovely place to vist! Directions: Tiergarten: S5, S7, S75, S9

The Zoo in Berlin is the best museum I have ever been to hands down. It had every type of animal you can think of and they had adequate room to move around. It had elephants, tigers, sharks, Komoto dragons etc. I was in Berlin during a heat wave and just by chance I went to the zoo. It turned out to be on the most fun days in Germany and maybe all of Europe I had a blast! Leave a Comment
