There are two zoos in Berlin: In the western part of Berlin, the "Zoologischer Garten" (opposite train station Berlin-Zoo), in the eastern part of Berlin the "Tiergarten Berlin Friedrichsfelde". The Tiergarten is less-known but very nice as it has a park-like character and a very diverse animal population.
The main photo shows Knut, the cuddly polar bear of the Berlin Zoo. In spring 2007 one had to be prepared for long queues, as he was very popular then. Knut resides in the "Zoologischer Garten" - he has outgrown his cuddliness though and will soon become a fierce big polar bear. The other photo shows a potential food source in the future.

You will need at least 3 hours to see all the animals. Inside the zoo there is aquarium department and if you see the zoo and the aquarium you will do this for reduce price.
There is one more zoo in Berlin which is called Tiargarten I'm saying this because mistakes are made often. I don't know is it better then this one because i haven't visit it. But I did like very much this one.

This huge monument near the Brandenburg Gate was unveilled in 1945, on the anniversary of the October Revolution in Russia. Flanked by the first two tanks into the city, the monument commemorates over 300,000 Soviet soldiers who perished in the battle for Berlin at the end of WW2.
The vast column was made from marble taken from the headquarters of the Third Reich, when it was being demolished. The area is also a cemetary for 2,500 Soviet casualties.

Think its always interesting to remember, use to be a wall separating berlin, east and west. You can see two sides reaction in the wall. One is so colorfull with 'work of art' while other is just a pale gray.

This park has 255 hectare full of paths, meadows, and waterways. The Victory Column that stood in front of the Reichstag from 1873 until 1938 now serves as a roundabout and lookout point in the middle of the park.

Berlin has so much parkland and green areas - you don't really notice this, even when walking through the Tiergarten, but when you look out over Tiergarten from atop the Siegess?ule, it becomes apparent.

From high up, the Tiergarten looks like a forest, right in the middle of Berlin. In actuality it is a large and beautiful park. Summer is the best time to visit Tiergarten, but it can be beautiful at any time.

There are all kinds of different places within the Tiergarten - big open lawns, brooks, formal gardens, statues...There is also a monument to early communists Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg, where their bodies were dumped into the Landswehrkanal.

An excellent way to spent your day, especially in the summer. Bring food with you, as you will probably spend the whole day there. Great for children. A lot of animals, and also a petting zoo.
Don't miss the feeding of the pandas and the sea elephants.
There is also a very good aquarium. You'll have to pay extra for it, but it is definatelly worth it.

I was surprised at the poor condition of the Tiergarten. Living in Wiesbaden, every park is perfectly manicured. While I was just in the outskirts of the park, I felt like I was in a weed field. I'm sure the actual Tiergarten is beautiful (it is Germany after all), but the outskirts of the park where very run down and non taken care of.
