I have wandered around Bernau a few times but for some reason have never spotted this well known landmark which can be seen from the town. The watertower was completed in 1911 and was built in a gothic revival style. The tower is 43.9 metres in height and had a 8 metre high container which held 350,000 cubic metres of water. The tower is 13 metres...more
If you have travelled by bus, double back about 300m along the road. On the left you should notice a wide cobbled area and a pathway leading into the woods. Follow the path into the woods and after 400m there is a turn to the right. Having turned right there should be a wire fence on your left. Keep on this path. You should notice a building behind...more

It consists of a 3 metre tall stone obelisk with two bronze wreaths at the base and a gilded star on top of the column. There are two smaller stone obelisks with gilded canon balls on top. I found it disappointing that the cemetery is...more

Most people think of the longbow as having come from England, but most native peoples anywhere came to the conclusion that a longer bow could shoot farther, and be accurate and penetrating. Camp Koralle is located approximately 8kms north of Bernau on the road to Lanke. You can catch the #890 bus outside the Bernau S Bahn Station. You get off the bus the stop after Woltersdorf. If you keep an eye out you will notice there are roadside barriers. When the continuous barriers stop that is where to get off.
The Kantorhaus (cantor's house) is a very pretty example of ancient Brandenburg timber-frame buildings. It was built in 1582.
On the frame-bar over the groundfloor windows you can see one of the rare inscriptions naming the houses owner.
Today it houses the local music school.
When visiting a medieval or Renaissance festival most people choose to wear period clothing saved for special occasions such as this, but its not necessary to do so. Just go along to see all the interesting happenings taking place.
