When we made it from Ferch to that little village of Emstal, the museum of old bakery ovens, Backofenmuseum, of back of the days, was closed. Yet those historic ovens built about 1870 which are placed outdoors right in the little village's center, were to be seen, and aroused our curiosity. Have never traveled through a town where in its center big...more

Found this really tiny, cosy, sweet, little place by coincidence along some Bundesstrasse, a road leading either in or out of Ferch town. Ralle's Imbiß is pretty comfortable for (motor) bikers to stop by while on tour. This little restaurant, run by Kipping family so far I understand, is housed in a very beautiful, fisherman's look alike cottage with thached roof and a most lovely flower garden. We've had Matjes Filet, Victoria Barsch with potatoes, salad, and mineralwater to drink mixed with applejuice (called Apfelschorle). Food was ok not really wonderful but solid-ok like the German word "Hausmannkost" puts it. The location of this restaurant is quiet, and truly beautiful. Thought waiters are not that friendly but maybe they've been...more

Ferch Off The Beaten Path
Oh God, I ask not for easier tasks.
I ask for stronger aptitudes and greater talents to meet any tasks which may come my way.
Help me to help others so that their lives may be made easier and happier.
Strengthen my confidence in my fellow men in spite of what they may do or say.
Give me strength to live according to the Golden Rule, enthusiasm to inspire those around me,
sympathy to help lighten the burdens of those who suffer,
and a spirit of joy and gladness to share with others.

It's a non-guarded lake yet permission is given for ppl to swim there. Compared to other swimming places, this one is like paradise. Maybe locals won't be too happy if this treasure of nature will be known and out in the open - and there for getting perhaps touristy, perhaps not remaining neat, and natural any more. Forgive me, dear locals.Related to:
