180 lakes, rivers and canals are ideal for swimming, canoeing, sailing surfing or diving, or for enjoying a guided boat trip. For dedicated fishermen there is a wide variety of fish to be caught. Observe eagles, kingfishers or herons.

Templin is a short train ride or drive from Berlin. The town has an interesting and attactive old town wall and several beautiful lakes. The local tourist office was very helpful in suggesting a walk of about four hours around the nearest lake, which I enjoyed very much. Its a perfect weekend day trip to escape the hassles of Berlin--and the trip is easily accomplished without a car. One warning: You're not in Berlin any more. Not much English spoken here.

This cafe sits very nicely at Templin's busy main road. What a pleasure it was, exchanging glances with the local, friendly farm boys in their trucks stopping at the red light right there where the cafe has its outdoor tables. On the other side of the road & cafe is the St.-Maria-Magdalenen-Church (built 1751) in the middle of the beautiful market square. We had a real nice time in this wonderful cafe in lovely Templin while enjoying the afternoon sun, tasty, hot chocolate, and just the beauty and kindness of Templin's citizens generally.

Though ppl often are not that fond of discount stores, I do like to say that Germany's discount stores of Rossmann and Schlecker are recommendable. Their stores are neat, well-structered, provid huge selection of any items (even sweets and other goodies), their staff are customer friendly, they hurry up so that customers would not line up in rows. Things are not over priced.
