Bad Karlshafen Things to Do

Bad Karlshafen is not only a spa town, but also an old Huguenot town. The opening of a Huguenot museum in a former tobacco factory in 1989 was therefore a logical development. The museum provides visitors with insights of the life of French and German Huguenots. The name Huguenot dates from the 16th century where it was used as a derogatory term for the reformed Christians of France. This group was forced to flee from persecution in Catholic France and so settled in Germany. Various activities and a museum's rally are also run by the museum. Those who enjoy being outdoors can walk along the informative Karlshafen Museum Walk, which leads from the Huguenot Museum to the Huguenot Tower and takes about 1.5 hours.

Can't say anything about their ice cream as we've had hot waffles with strawberries which were very delicious. The coffee too was good though too strong (I personally love coffee the American way made). The waitress was very friendly, helpful and patient. Great service. As we were lucky with some sunny weather, we took the cafe's outdoor seats right on the sidewalk. Since having waffles & coffee at Cortina's is quite relaxing, it doesn't bother a bit that Bad Karlshafen's mainroad the cafe sits on, leads heavy traffic particulary motor biking folks.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Carolinum in Bad Karlahafen is a facility that provids seniors with long and short term nursing care, and medical aid. Visiting there, it seemed to me that this nice, and beautiful located fascility has the same mission which is described on the website of Montana's Departement of Public Health and Human Sevices: To advocate and promote dignity and independence for older..and with disabilities by providing information, education, and assistance, planning, developing and providing for quality long-term care services, and operating within a cost–effective service delivery system. And also the website says: The Montana Veterans' Home is funded in part with money from the state cigarette tax. Now, why not establishing a certain (worldwide) tax on any alcohol and get our (poorer) elderlies supportet with money from the established alcohol tax?

I wait for you in the cool morning
when the dawn breaks day anew.
Our talks are all too short and few.
I wait for you at midday
when you sit to eat your meal.
I hear your words of thank.
You don't know how lonely I feel.
I wait for you at the end of day
    listening for you to pray.
I wait for you to speak with me
about the happenings of the day.
Each time you whispered words of good
was the happiest that I had been.
I'll wait for you throughout the night
until you speak with me again.
    -S.Powell

Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were..
    Love lost, such a cost,
    Give me things
    that don't get lost.
Like a coin that won't get tossed
    Rolling home to you.
Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you were..
    I've been first and last
Look at how the time goes past.
But I'm all alone at last.
    Rolling home to you.
