The Arboretum Main-Taunus is a botanical park landscape representing more than 30 typical tree and bush specimens from regions all over the northern hemisphere (Asia, China, North America). As the park has been established inthe 1980`s, some trees are not fully grown yet. The park is located between Sulzbach, Eschborn, and Schwalbach; a convenient entry point would be near the "Mann Mobilia" shopping mall parking lot, near the travel-a-head-monument (there are signs leading to the Arboretum). There are lots of walking/jogging and cycling-paths criss-crossing the Arboretum. It is a nice place to visit I only lately discovered in 2008 though I live here since 1998 !

Well, well. Eschborn happens to be the suburb of Frankfurt where I live. A place best seen disappearing in in the rear window of your car. It is a typical unspectacular suburb with nothing to see - with one exception: The sculpture "travel a head" from contemporary artist Florian Borkenhagen. It is a metre-sized head sculpture that actually travelled round the world from 1998 to 2002 on container ships. I always drove past the sculpture not knowing about its significance until I saw a photo in "National Geographic" with the background story. Now, whenever I drive past this sculpture I wonder what this piece of stone has seen and to what places it has been. No reason for a detour to visit Eschborn, but an interesting fact nonetheless.
