On a clear sunny day! by volarevolare No point bringing a small carrier bag! If you're like me that is. ;) Thought I could make it through this trip using a small carry-on luggage (with a folded-up spare duffel tucked inside) hehehe... but obviously, it's a mistake I'd not make again. The hardcase is going with me on the next trip! hehehe...
Shoes -- again, very important to wear good walking shoes that provide support for your feet. Forget about fashion and looking chic -- flip flops or impossible small kitten heels will kill your feet! Remember that in a lot of old European towns, the streets are cobbled! Real killers for feet not properly shod! This time, I found my sneakers from Delia's really good for both walking in the city as well on the outskirts of the city! And they looked great too!
Just the usual stuff that you need. Of course you could get medical supplies for common ailments readily at the pharmacies, but remember that shops close very early on weekdays, at 8pm all the shops are closed! And forget about going to the shops on Sundays! It's mandatory no working day for Germany! So only food stalls and restaurants are open, or the odd carnival fair with stalls... other than that, you can't buy anything on Sundays!
I used a Sony Digital Camera and it was great! Firstly, it is idiot proof and secondly, it allowed me to review and delete shots that were not satisfactory. Of course I wanted to bring my Holga LOMO for great black and white arty shots but common-sense got the better of me. But really, whatever you choose to use, remember to bring a camera! There are PLENTY of photo opportunities! :) Leave a Comment

by acemj Make sure you bring plenty of film to capture the beauty of the city. Pictured is the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew.
Camera equipment isn't cheap here, some come prepared. Don't plan to buy it all here. Leave a Comment

Check the temperatures before you visit!Always carry a jacket or windcheater-just in case.It rained quite a bit when we visited in June,so we were very glad to have carried our windcheaters!
I've heard that German chemist shops do not sell anything without a Doctors prescription. So,carry all that you need from home!! ...however,i had a little cough when i was there, and asked(via sign language) for some medicine for my cough. After much signaling-they did give me a very effective German cough syrup!
