Named after the film Life is Beautiful, the food in this busy and popular restaurant is befitting of the title.
The restaurant consists of tightly packed wooden tables in a distinctive Altbau surrounded by the scruffy office buildings of Ostend in the lower half of Hanauer Landstrasse. The walls are covered with arthouse pictures of Italy, and the owners and waiters are all from the large Italian community in Germany. It's extremely popular at lunchtimes, especially with the office workers after a quick tasty lunch, and with good reason. The food is great, and unbelievable for the price: a big pizza for as little as 4.50 euros.
It's open all day and night during the week, but only Saturday evenings. It is closed Sunday.
Favorite Dish: Any pizza.
There is a very nice, cozy ambience despite the long tables placed close together which resembles a children's camp dining hall.
The only thing you may want to complain about? The very dull knives! (Hey, we're not on an airplane, are we?)
Favorite Dish: PIZZA!! Very light crispy crust just like in Italy and delicious fresh toppings. Our group also liked the pasta, but the salad was deemed as just so-so.
The name of the restaurant says it Life is beautiful
The walls are over and over decorated with movies and actors pictures. You sit at long wooden tables and if you want you get easiliy into a conversation with your neighbours.
The background noice was very loud as well as the music. That was a little annoying. I would have prefered if they wouldn't play music.
Opening hours: monday-thursday 11am-12pm, friday 11am-1am, saturdays 6pm-1am
Favorite Dish: Pizza Celentano was with spinach, ricotta cheese and parma ham.
The pizza pastry was very thin just how I like it!
Price for pizza between 5 and 8 Euro, 1 liter of house wine is 18 Euro. We had the Montepulciano.
