If you are shopping on Zeil and are in need of a quick lunch, pop up to the 7th floor of the Galeria Kaufhof (department store) and check out the food hall.
There are all different types of foods and drinks available. Grab a tray, wander around and select your meal, then do to the central tills to pay.
Favorite Dish: However, the best thing about eating here is the outdoor seating terrace which has great views over Frankfurt. A cheap place to relax over lunch with a panoramic outlook. Popular though, so you may have to hover for a table for a while. There is, however, plenty of indoor seating as well.

This restaurant is on the 7th floor in the department store Galeria Kaufhof on the main shopping street, die Zeil. However, it's definitely not the usual cafeteria you find in other department stores.
Yes, you pick up a tray and walk around, choosing your food. But there's much more variety than in other cafeterias. They have a salad bar, a vegetable bar, some hot dishes prepared fresh, also an Italian antipasti bar, an extra pasta bar, an Asian bar(very good!), a dessert bar. These are the one I've tested so far, they may even be more.I usually don't get past the antipasti and Asian bar.
Prices are for 100 gr, so your plates are weighed when you pay.
The seating area is large, in nice weather you can also sit outside on the terrace and enjoy the view over Frankfurt.

This is a self-service restaurant atop the Kaufhof departmental store right at the start of the Zeil shopping zone.
The choice is pretty extensive - German, cakes, Asian finger food, drinks, coffee etc. You can eat inside, or if weather is great, outside on the patio with magnificent view of the Haupwatche, church etc, even great view of the skyline.
we went there for tea break, and bought some snack food. I did not like the spring roll - a bit hard and too meaty, but we both enjoyed the crumbed fish with nice sweet and sour sauce to compliment it...they sell by weight!!!
