The Liebieghaus is a museum for ancient sculptures. They have a lovely little café in what used to be the kitchen of the Villa Liebieg. You can sit inside or outside in the very romantic courtyard.
They serve coffee and hot chocolate, a variety of cakes and some small salads.
Self-service
We sat in the courtyard and really enjoyed coffee, cake, atmosphere and of course the company!

The Liebig house is one of the nicest museum buildings in Frankfurt (dedicated to sulptures from antiquity and medieval times), and it has the nicest museum cafe there is in Frankfurt (with a selection of home-made cakes and salads) where you can also sit in the open in a small yard if the weather allows. in 2007/2008, the Liebig museum closes for renovation until march 2008 because the collection will be rearranged - best check their website for an update on the reopening.

Good cakes!
Probably the best in town.
And THAT is written by someone who doesn´t like cakes very much (me (I know: my) gran-dad was a pastry cook, that is why it - kind of - runs in the family to "hate" eating cakes).

I don't care if you're hotel offers you an all-inclusive meal package - you must save room for cake from the Liebig Haus Cafe!
The Liebig Haus is a museum of decorative arts on the south bank of the Main, and its cafe and is nestled in a charming building inside the garden courtyard. You'll find a mix of locals, tourists, and artsy folk enjoying the cafe's warm ambience in winter, and perhaps sitting outside on the patio in the warmer seasons.

Tucked away behind the "castle like" mainbuilding, which contains with its wings a collection of antike, ancients sculptures etc. is the Liebieg Haus Cafe, which serves delicious coffee, tea and homemade cakes. It is a popular weekend destination for "insiders" to enjoy a cup of coffee after a stroll along the river Main, or after having visited a museum along the "Museumsufer" (Museum bank) or the museum itself of course.
Whatever the weather or the season, it is always a treat to come here.
Favorite Dish: orange cake is among the most delicous cakes.

The Liebiegmuseum is housed in a lovely old villa on the Main riverbank in Sachsenhausen, housing one of the most famous sculpture collections in the world. Now, I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t visited the museum, but I have been to the fabulous café they have in the villa. First, the villa itself is worth a visit, it is simply gorgeous. The café is in the courtyard as well as in a cosy room inside the building, so depending on the weather you can choose where you want to sit. The courtyard is a quiet and pleasant oasis of peace amidst the hustle and bustle of Frankfurt. The inside room has a low ceiling, is quite small and the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed. The café has a great selection of cakes, they are delicious and prices are reasonable. In winter, also try the hot chocolate.
