When travelling to a city one certainly doesn't head to the forests..:) However, this one called Bulau is well worth your while..
It is located at the end of the Feuerbachstrasse on your way out of the northend of Hanau. It has wonderful nature trails to walk on and if you visit during May you can pick Lilies of the Valley in certain spots. You might also notice craters here and there- grim reminders of World War II..Deep inside the forest you may still find a bunker but since I haven't been there for while I am not quite sure if it is still there..
Anyhow, kids will have fun too! At the entrance, the little ones can enjoy a nice play ground!!

A beautiful wildlife park that was originally founded in 1710 to display the Count's pheasants. Now many more animals have been added like moose, wolves etc. A great place for kids or people interested in Eco Travel. A walk barefoot through the park is offered.. :)The website below is in German but again I am willing to translate for anyone interested.
