Herborn Travel Guide

 ATLC Says:  The pedestrial central area houses some lovely shops in the old buildings.There was a great fire in 1626 and since the houses were rebuilt. 

 ATLC Says:  The coat of arms all around the town hall were put there from around 1650. They were all family coats of arms of the town mayors and councillors. It was restored in 1914 and shows a kind of "who's who" of those who held power some 300 years ago. 

 ATLC Says:  Inside the town hall is a large entry hall with an early baroque staircase. Along the staircase are paintings which were gifts by the Nassau-Dillenburg family who ruled this region some four centuries ago. 

 ATLC Says:  Building started in 1589 but it got its current form in 1630. It was used as town hall, weigh house, court house, weapon arsenal, wine cellar, and even as dancing. 

 ATLC Says:  I didn't quite catch that typical green Bayerisches costume that the old gentleman wore. But the view is nice too. 

 ATLC Says:  A good sign in Herborn is that a lot of attention is paid to how it looks. This little detail on the bridge. Flowers and duck sculptures around it.

 ATLC Says:  On the Markt square, this house from 1726. Its style is a transit between Renaissance and Baroque. 

 ATLC Says:  We were expected in Herborn for brunch in the Marktcafé on the central market square. To our surprise this turned out to be a very nice little town and we took a bit of time to stroll around on a quiet, early Sunday morning.Here's the Leonard Tower as part of the old...
