Hiking, running or walking on unsealed forest trails is within reach from the town. The Lahnberge, the ridge along the outer side of the valley bend, have a network of trails in the forest. Be prepared for some steep ascents.

This is more or a relaxing boat trip for people and kids of all ages because the part where Lahn river is navigable in Marburg is rather short, maybe 3 km only. But it is very much romantic and indeed relaxing because the river is not wide and the tree grown banks add to a special atmosphere. The boat rental is located at the eastern bank of the river where Weidenhausen begins (= from old university, cross Weidenhäuser Brücke and walk to Trojedamm, the bicycle and walking path along the river).
At the very moment I do not know how much they charge per boat per hour, but I will find out, because a colleague rented a boat last year. I did it quite often during my study years but this is more than twenty years ago.
Equipment: The boat rentals will provide you with life saving jackets in case you want, but the majority of the people didn’t wear any. They also have a nice terrace with small snack bar at the pier.
Opening hours, April – October: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
