Frankfurt Goetheturm

by Princess_Emily

This tower has 196 steps (one-way) and was until 1999 the highest wooden building in Germany that's open to the public. On a clear day, from the viewing platform, visitors have a very nice view of Frankfurt, Taunus, Spessart, and Odenwald.Open from: Mo - Fr: 8:00 - 20:00 Sa - So: 10:00 - 18:00.

Klein Auheim Wildpark. 2

by Princess_Emily

Let me try to make up for my other Klein Auheim Wildpark tip with this one.Wildbiologin Frau Dr. Marion Ebel puts on a informative show called Wollfsheulnacht (English:Wolfs Howling) with three wolfs named Ayla, Scott-Cisco und Khan. Well if one can judge a show by the number of people who attended, and stayed to the end, in not the best of weather conditions, then i would say the good Dr. has a winning show. The show is included in the normal park entrance fee, which is €3.50 for Adults and €2.00 for children from 4-14, kids under 4 are free.

Feeling bored? Maybe i can help fix that, You can start by feeding the goats, then let the Buffalo chase you down the Barefoot Path past the Forest Theater Stage, and we'll probably find you hanging from one of Hessen's biggest Hochseilgarten's ropes screaming for help, so for a fun filled day stop by Klein-Auheim's wild park and don't forget to bring the family with you, team work counts. This tip sounds more like an advertisement, but it's not, I'm just tired, so for more, naja, you know the routine, click on the link.

Frankfurt Waldhaus (Forest House) 2

by Princess_Emily

Plenty to do inside the Waldhaus, now for the outside. If you should ever stop by for a visit then don't miss out on a walk around the learning trails that have been established on the Waldhaus grounds, depending on the season, you may even find some fresh berries to eat.

Frankfurt Waldhaus (Forest House)

by Princess_Emily

What is a tree? How does a tree grow? For the answer to these questions and many more concerning the forest i paid a visit to the Frankfurt Waldhaus. I did not really "pay" anything because admission to the Waldhaus is free. I was surprised by just how much there is to do in and around the Waldhaus (Forest house). If your interested check out the attached link.

Offenbach Wald Zoo

by Princess_Emily

Anyone out there remember the TV show Green Acres :-) I just happened to be in Offenbach am Main Friday afternoon and decided to stop by the Wald Zoo, walking through the entrance reminded me of the TV show Green Acres. The Wald Zoo is no comparison to the Opel or Frankfurt Zoos, this zoo was started in 1965 by a forest ranger who would take in domesticated type animals that had been abandoned by the owners.

Frankfurt Main Tower

by Princess_Emily

It was another hot day, 31°C, i'd been hanging out with my friends at the kindergarden, it was about time for Dad to pick me up and i was making plans to go swimming. Now i know the meaning of "the best made plans of mice and men".Instead of taking me swimming we went downtown to The MAIN TOWER, it's located in the heart of Frankfurt. Now, if you take a somewhat closer look at Frankfurt, you soon discover that Germany's leading financial center has a great deal more to offer than just stock markets and banks, things like "swimming pools" hint, hint DAD.MAIN TOWER, it's not just a skyscraper, it's a true symbol of Frankfurt.I wonder if anyone has ever bungy jumped from up here :-)) well at least there's a nice cool breeze.

Offenbach Fun Forest

by Princess_Emily

It was a great Sunday afternoon and I am looking forward to going back soon.In 4 months I'll be 7 years old and then I can move up to the training course, there Dad and I can climb around in the trees together, I cant wait to see the look on his face as he tries to keep up with me so far off the ground. For those of you who would like to have a go at this, I've included the internet addy from the park.Who knows maybe we can have a VT meeting in the trees someday :-)

Monastery and vineyard Eberbach

by elgin99

Porta patet, cor magis - The door stands open, but the heart even more so! The motto of the Cistercian monks.Amidst lovey charming Rheingau, at Rhine river. It´s even an Hessia part. Beside the main road along the river in a very quiet valley with vineyards. An important center of viniculture, with wine taste, famous for wine auctions, with wine cellars, great historical rooms, and every year a great music festival, nice gardens and more.BTW, parts of the film "The Name of the Rose" of Umberto Ecco were filmed there. This link is a speacial one: EberbachA top tour!Parts of official history description: "The founding of the Monastery in the 12th century was profoundly influenced by the reform movement within the orders of monks. This can be seen in the impressive simplicity of Romanesque architecture with its complete lack of all forms of ornamental or decorative elements.Central buildings...
