Willingen Things to Do

  • Ski Jumping

So, as my intro says, the event was cancelled because of dangerous wind. A little disappointed no refund of the admission cost is available. 29 euros to stand in a cold field , drink expensive beer, wave a flag and sing along to John Denver is a little excessive I think -you live and learn though.Anyway here's a few photos and I'm sure it is a...

Willingen Restaurants

  • Der Fliegende Holländer

Restaurant at the hotel we stopped at, lucky to find a table both nights we were in town, it's very popular. Food excellent on both visits, enough for the vegetarian Mrs B and Willinger sate particularly good for me.A good place to eat.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Getting to Willingen is best with your own car, though you also can reach it by entering by rail until Brilon and go on with the "stoptrain". Busses can of course bring you to here as well. Getting around in wintertime: on the road preferably by car ... of the road ... euh, might I recommend ski's (if there's enough snow).

The country market is each Friday from 9-14 hrs.

What to buy: Local produce and traditional merchandise and old trade demonstrations.

  • Skiing, Ski-cross-country and highjump

When there is enough snow, possibilities for skiing are still limited in Willingen. This is only because the hills are just not that high to create pistons that will entertain you with a hour long descent. The facilities around the pistons are perfect (lift, apres-ski, skirental etc.).Langlaufen (ski-cross-country) has in Willingen few of the most...

  • Willingen and it's high heatherfields

Special in Willingen is the heatherfield (protected natural area) on top of the hill where also the skiramp is (Ettelsberg). Especially our tour through this winter-wonderworld had a very amazing impression on me and Inge. Later in summertime I also went there and it is in all seasons a area that should be visited here. When the skilift is running...
