At the market place is located the Gothic church of Mary which was built between 13th and 15th century. It is a three naval hall church with a 87 m (285 ft) high steeple. The church library owns 4000 writings and one of the last Low German bibles printed in Barth in 1588.

Of the former town wall with the four gates, remained the "Dammtor" (gate of 1357) and the 12m high "Fangelturm" (tower).
Sorry, but I do not know which one is on the photo.

Barth has a terminal station where all the tourists for Zingst and Darß arrive.
Getting there by car is more difficult. From Rostock or Stralsund take federal road B 105 to Löbnitz and turn here to Barth. Since this is the only possibility to get to the Baltic Sea the road is very crowded in summer.

Favorite thing: Tourism is rather less important for the economy of the town. Most tourist go to the towns along the Baltic Sea and visit Barth only for shopping. However, I think it is worth to visit this town for one day. Do not miss to visit Curch of Mary and harbour district.
