The Schossgarten is a very nice park in the center of town. Oldenburg has some good museums. the recently opened Horst Jansen museum hosts the biggest selection of this artist.Oldenburg did not suffer any destruction in WWII, so you could spent some time exploring the older parts of the city.
I´m sort of into walking. If you are, Oldenburg is very good place to do so.

There is a very good bistro-type place in the Nadosterstrasse, close to the Pferdemarkt. They do a selection of Pizzas, baquettes, salats and persian cuisine. Prices are reasonable, helpings are filling and the quality of the food is excellent.
The price, athmosphere and food are excellent,. The owner is also nice.
Favorite Dish: There is a persian lamb dish that i´am quite addicted to. I sadly don´t know the persian name, but it´s excellent.

This will be a special Christmas concert with an American gospel choir, made up of singers who have starred in musicals on Boradway in New York and in Germany's musical theaters, including "The Lion King", "The Buddy Holly Story", "Porgy & Bess", "Hair", "The Louis Armstrong Story"...
Great singers, great band!!! A must see.

Address: Peterstrasse 4
'Marvins' is a good pub close to the station. It´s theme is 'hitchhiker´s guide to the galaxy'.It´s patronized by many people from the local 'Wilde Liga'. The 'Metro' is the one descent discoteque in town.
Why do you go to a pub, why do you visit a discoteque?
Dress Code: Wear something

Oldenburg is on the A 28 and it´s has good railway connections to Bremen. This makes it a logical staging post for the Northsea, or a stop on the way to the Nederland if you come from Hamburg
Oldenburg is sort of cycling capital of Germany, there a various places to rent one, also at the station.

Favorite thing: A good idea would be to explore the local pub scene. There are usally concerts or partys eery day of the week. There Filmfestival in authum or the Kultursommer in Juli and August are pretty good and the Kultursommer is a good and cheap way to immerse yourself in contempory music and art.
Fondest memory: This is a bit difficult. I'am a native and spent most my life there. When I am away I miss the lifestyle most. Oldenburger are a pretty easygoing lot, at least by German standarts.

Favorite thing: There is a lot of history in Oldenburg, with many different facets. The first place that I take people when they visit is into the Innenstadt (innercity) and to the historical sites like the Schloss (castle) and the Lambertikirche (St. Lambert's Church)
Fondest memory: There is no real experience that sticks out in my mind, but my favorite thing to do is to go into the city and walk around the innenstadt. There is such a culture and history that we don't have in the states, that just gives me a good feeling
