Favorite thing: The town got its name from the Kühlung, a ridge a few kms inland. This is a popular area for hiking with beech forests and viewpoints. The highest 'peak' reaches a height of some 130 m above sea level.
Like most resorts Kühlungsborn charges Kurtaxe, a tax of 2 € per day in high season, 1 € per day in low season. Guests who stay in Kühlungsborn pay this tax with their accommodation bill. Day visitors have to pay at the beach entrances. You receive a Kurkarte with your name and the dates of your stay. Carry your Kurkarte all the time. Some shops, museums etc. give discounts if a Kurkarte is presented.
Because you asked, yes there are controls on the beach.
Fondest memory: The Kurtaxe pays for the regular cleaning of the beach and the beach promenade, which are remarkably clean. For the public toilets along the beach promenade, which are frequent and well kept. For the maintenance of the playgrounds, of which there are several big ones. For the events in the concert gardens, the reading hall, the beach volleyball fields, etc. Kühlungsborn is very clean and a lot is done for the well-being and entertainment of their visitors, so this money is well invested.
Favorite thing: Here you can see the view from the seabridge of Kuehlingsborn. You can find it in Kuehlungsborn - East. And if you walk on the east side you willl come to a small harbour.
Favorite thing: you can find a lot of seegulls on the sea. some of them are very great and terrible. but the small one are cute.
swim in the sea is fun!!
but such a calm sea is very very seldom and a little bit uncanny!!! the pic was taken before a storm came...
mostly you will see big waves.
Favorite thing: Make a long walk on the beach and in the water from Kuehlungsborn West in direction of the village Rerik. It´s fantastic and you can relax so much...:)
