Ahlhorn is very rich in history; for example, it was a very strategic location during The First World War, when the 'zepplin' was used as a war machine. Ahlhorn was a very important zepplin base. The famous "Stovehouse", a home for retired Naval Captain's in the 1700's, sat right behind our home. The area is also rich in more ancient history. There are rock formations dating back around 2000 years. One such spot is called " Die Visbecker Braut". Ancient burial mounds can be found just outside of town that are wonderful to explore.
