 old town hall by chancay
The building is an impressive trace of the ducal reign. In the 14th and 16th century the town hall was extended and sumptuously decorated. The gable to the north is a masterpiece of the renaissance, typical for the region along the river Weser. In the "Ratskeller" (restaurant under the town hall) there are still Gothic cross vaults.
Diagonally opposite at the street corner "Markt"/"Schuhstraße" the sound of a carillion is heard every hour.
By chance the day I have been there was a "Schützenumzug" (a parade of members of traditional hunter clubs) through the city. Every club has its music band who plays the typical traditional march music.. Leave a Comment
