Museumdorf - outdoor museum village
The museumdorf is an open air collection of rural houses and farm buildings from Lower Saxony from the 16th century to the present day.
Entrance for adults is 5E but we got in for half price as this was a working visit.
There are several entrances, head for the main one and don't be tempted to turn into Museumstrasse. This is where the old entrance was and it was only by luck that we found a workman using this gate and he let us in.
Once inside you can purchase your ticket and a plan of the area in the reception hall where there is also a gift shop.
Follow the route on the plan to look at all the old buildings, there are over 50 of them, ranging from grand manor houses to lowly peasant huts. Some of the houses look like they are still lived in from the outside, but just walk right up the path and open the front door and wander around inside, they are lovely and full of character!
This is a nice afternoon's outing for families, and there is also a cafe/restaurant where you can take a break.
We were there on a beautiful autumn day and the leaves on the trees were all golden colours but I am sure it is a lovely place to visit duing any season, when it would look just as pretty.

Living History in Cloppenburg
The Museumsdorf Cloppenburg
Niedersächsisches Freilichtmuseum is a living history museum of antique houses of many types! There is an old windmill and many old houses from times long ago.
It is a pleasant park area as well, and we enjoyed our visit there very much! We were always looking into houses that were so unique, authentic, and well-preserved that we expected to see our ancestors living there!
Price is about 5 Euro for a single adult admission.
