Beachfun with sand, sea (or river) and sun!
Cuxhaven has both beaches on the North sea-side (well, actually more the "Watten"-sea) as well as beaches along the last shores of the Elbe-river. There where they both come together, one finds the "Kugel-baken" and along them drives in the high season a little train connecting all intresting spots. On many beaches there are chairs for rent, but one can also just lay down on the sand and start having fun with water, wind, sand and sun.
CUXHAVEN:If you want to go for...
If you want to go for a nice walk along the north sea I'd recommend going to Cuxhaven. Take a bus to 'Duhnen' which is a seaside touristy suburb. From there you can walk a few kilometres to Cuxhaven.
Many great ships pass by because Cuxhaven is the place where the river Elbe ends in the North Sea. So you see many ships going to and coming from Hamburg port. The width of the Elbe is 15 kms here so it looks like the sea actually.
