If there is one Greetsiel thing I miss having at home, it is the "Eiscafe am Hafen". Superb-quality Danish icecream in cones, to-go or in the nice cafe. There are always lots of customers, but the queues diminish quickly, so you won`t have to wait long.

Mango Ice Cream
In the centre of this town and in few more pedestrian streets there are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops where you can sit outside, have a drink or lunch, and enjoy people watching and relax atmosphere. If the weather is good, of course.
Those fresh shrimps are also from the fish shop, so, instead of paying fortune at the restaurant, buy them fresh here and eat them while hanging around the city. Or, you can take a short break near the harbour.
I did not seat and eat here as I bought fresh fish from the special fish store (see: shopping tip). But walking around was just great and I could see many places around the old part of the town serving Schnitzel & Beer, but also other food.
Although this shop is rather small and not fancy at all, it is THE place to eat and buy fresh fish.
At the 'Greetje' you can get all different kinds of fish and seafood. The friendly shop assistants will always give you a few good tips how to prepare the fish according to the local tradition.
If you don't want to do the cooking at home, you can as well buy nice rolls with fish or shrimps.

I just love the herring which is melting in your mouth. -Hmmmh!
As I wrote, the fish are excellent here so I bought fresh fish from the special fish store and Netta enjoyed having it with “Omena Mitz”.
